what is left…
today we went down to the levee. the levee that was breached by the waters of hurricane katrina. today we saw where houses were, and now are not. this picture is of the foundation of a house about 100 yards from where the levee was breached. behind this foundation in the surrounding city blocks were some houses that were still on foundations and others that weren’t. it was literally one of the saddest, most moving things i have ever seen. we also went to where night clubs/restaurants used to be on the water. now, there are just poles sticking out of the water.
we have so much. i have so much. i get frustrated about silly things sometimes. about not having “enough”, or not having things i “need”. some of the people of new orleans had everything taken from them. and yet they can still sing in the french quarter like nothing has ever changed.
i have so much.
i’m glad i can give some back this week.
i pray that after this week i can continue to give.
